IIM Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, and Tiruchirappalli have unanimously launched the Joint Admission Process (JAP 2026) for MBA admissions. After the CAT 2025 results, candidates can apply to all four IIMs with a single application, coordinated by IIM Raipur. JAP 2026 aims to simplify the IIM MBA admission process by allowing candidates to apply to multiple IIMs with one form.
The IIM CAP is a centralised selection process where candidates, shortlisted on the basis of CAT scores, appear for a single round of assessment instead of multiple interviews across IIMs. After the CAT results, participating IIMs release their shortlisting criteria and invite candidates for the CAP round. The CAP round includes a Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT), conducted offline across multiple locations.
After CAP, the organising IIM shares interview scores with all participating institutes. Each IIM applies its own admission policy, considering CAT percentile, CAP performance, academics, work experience, and diversity factors. Each IIM prepares its own merit list and issues separate admission offers.For 2026, IIM Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, and Trichy are moving away from the CAP format and launching the Joint Admission Process (JAP 2026). Now, candidates can apply to all four IIMs with just one application. IIM Raipur will coordinate JAP 2026, making admissions simpler, reducing duplication, and making the system more student-focused. The CAP process will continue for the other IIMs that used to take admission through the Common Admission Process.
For candidates, JAP 2026 does not add any extra steps before the interview stage. The four IIMs - Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, and Trichy- will continue to use CAT scores for shortlisting. Students don’t need to refill the CAT form, change preferences, or take any extra steps. JAP 2026 becomes relevant only from the interview stage. For now, aspirants should focus on CAT 2025 preparation and aim for the best possible score.
JAP 2026 marks a major shift in how IIM Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, and Trichy conduct MBA admissions.
